Dr. Krupa A. Patel

Dr. Krupa A. Patel was a 5-year-old little girl when she first set foot in Kansas City, MO and saw snow for the first time! She emigrated with her parents from India and later moved to Troy, MI. Growing up in Michigan, she learned from a young age the meaning of hard work, integrity, and responsibility. She is very proud to call herself an American, and also holds her Indian culture close, and believes both parts have molded her into the person she is today. She loves learning to cook from her mother and father, and spending time with her friends and younger brother. In her free time, she likes to read, lift weights, and do DIY art projects. Ask her about what she has been reading lately!

Education:

Dr. Patel graduated from Troy High School in 2006, after which she started an 8-year medical track at the University of Missouri-Columbia. However, when learning more about dentistry from a friend’s father, she realized that working in the field of dentistry was her dream career. Her passion and attention to detail translated into starting her dental education at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. During dental school, she was part of the Psi Omega Dental Fraternity, and was involved in many student organizations, such as the American Dental Student Association and Indian Student Dental Association. In 2014, after graduating from a rigorous dental program with her DMD, Dr. Patel returned to Michigan and completed a one-year general practice residency in Pontiac. During her education, she became interested in the specialty of periodontics, which later resulted in her specializing in it. Dr. Patel did her periodontal training at University of Detroit Mercy, during which she worked closely with several faculty members performing periodontal procedures in the clinic as well as clinical and lab research. During her residency, she became certified for performing IV conscious sedation and was recognized for her excellence in research by the Russell W Bunting Periodontal Society and the Michigan Periodontal Association. She graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2018 with a Certificate in Periodontics and a Masters in Science. Shortly after, Dr. Patel became board certified, and is considered a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.  A Diplomate is an expert in the field of periodontics, who has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty and who is certified by the American Board of Periodontology through a rigorous examination process. Dr. Patel likes to keep up with advancing techniques through many hours of continuing education every month in addition to being involved in study clubs. She is certified in ACLS and BLS.
